motto: “Cautiously science to better humanity”

Alfred Kwabena Dei-Ampeh is a Cancer & Cell Biology graduate student who joined the Anastas lab in 2023. He completed his B.A. in Biochemistry & Pre-medicine at Augustana College, Rock Island, IL in 2019. Then, he worked as a research technician/lab manager in the Maletics-Savatics lab until 2022. He is co-mentored by Dr. Jamie Anastas and Dr. Ganesh Rao.

Alfred's research interest is to understand the underlying chromatin biology of oncohistones, specifically H3K27M, implicated in diffused midline glioma. Gene hits from an in-vitro CRISPR screen for glioma genetic dependencies are being studied pharmacologically and genetically in different models (in vitro cell culture, in an immunocompetent RCAS mouse model, and using patient-derived xenografts).

hometown: Sekondi-Takoradi, Western Region of Ghana - West Africa

favorite science pastime: observing the wits of research mice and outsmarting them
